Forest Park- Kennedy Woods Savanna Annual Public Spring Planting
Saturday, April 13th, 2019 from 10:00-12:00
Kennedy Woods Savanna in Forest Park
This year's spring planting day will be a celebration of the many cultures and races that add resilience to our humanity: CULTURAL DIVERSITY REWEAVING THE WEB OF BIODIVERSITY.
Catherine Ndegwa from Kenya and her African Drum, along with Farshid Etniko and Glenn "Papa" Wright, will be a few of the musicians featured during the Earth Chant portion of the opening ceremony.
We will then plant several hundred greenhouse grown native plant plugs with the "poke and pop" method. Poke a hole in the ground and pop in a plant! Installing the native plants will improve the savanna habitat by promoting biological diversity. This spring’s celebration will add to the savanna plantings made by Kennedy Woods friends and neighbors since 2016. Dress for the weather! Children kindergarten and up are welcome with parents.
